Undercurrent

On my birthday, Yan Ziqiu didn’t come home to have dinner with me.

He only sent me a 520-yuan red envelope with the message: [I love you.]

Then, in the blink of an eye, his apprentice posted on her Moments.

It was a screenshot of him transferring 52,000 yuan to her, with the message: [I’ll love you till we’re old.]

I didn’t confront him. I simply left the city.

On the first day after I left, I heard Yan Ziqiu didn’t care at all. He said, “She’ll be back in a few days.”

A month after I left, Yan Ziqiu called me: “I’ll send you a 520,000-yuan red envelope. Please come back, okay?”

But what I wanted was never a red envelope.
