Shen Qing, a master alchemist of the cultivation world, accidentally transmigrates to modern society with the personal dimension bound to his soul. He ends up as a young man with no home, no car, and no savings. Though he possesses the highest level of alchemy, he has no idea how to use modern appliances, causing one mishap after another and leading people to mistake him for a brain-damaged fool. To make ends meet, Shen Qing sets up a fortune-telling stall and swindles people with scraps left over from making his “Honesty Pills.” To his surprise, he becomes a viral online “master fortune-teller.”
After Shen Qing goes viral, a top wealthy family comes looking for him. One of their relatives suffers from a strange illness that modern medicine cannot cure, and they hope Shen Qing can save them. Everyone laughs at Shen Qing, dismissing him as a con artist, while the family heir mocks him and threatens, “If you can’t cure him, we’ll throw you to the dogs.” But Shen Qing remains unruffled. With a single “Qi-Replenishing Pill,” he cures the family patriarch, who was on the brink of death, leaving everyone stunned.
As it turns out, the spirit pet he raised, the Heaven-Swallowing Beast, came with him when he transmigrated. It tells him that spiritual energy is scarce in this world, and the only spirit vein lies sealed beneath the old mansion where the wealthy family lives. So that he can cultivate in peace, Shen Qing decides to help the family heir reclaim the position of head of the family and restore its former glory.
