After the Viper General Became His Majesty’s Canary

In the third year of Yunqing, Shen Baichuan, the poisonous snake of a general who had lorded over Great Zhou for three years, was captured during a palace banquet. The entire Shen family was slaughtered overnight, and Emperor Zhou Yuanchong reclaimed control of the empire.

The people throughout Great Zhou cheered and celebrated. Even three-year-olds spat at the sound of Shen Baichuan's name.

Before Xuanwu Gate, Shen Baichuan's wicked head was cut off in front of the city's people. His headless body was hung at the gate, left for all to revile.

But beyond Xuanwu Gate, inside Linhua Hall, the emperor secretly switched him with someone else and imprisoned him in the Moonview Pavilion deep in the palace, where he had no freedom.
