For nearly thirty years, a world-shattering truth has been tightly guarded even as it quietly seeped into public consciousness: humanity is not alone in the universe.
The powers that be, made up of the major nations and leading scientists, launched a grand “Cognitive Adaptation Program.” And so, the concept of alien civilizations silently took root like spring rain: primary and secondary school textbooks added an elective called “Theories of Alien Civilizations”; the box office was always topped by dazzling alien epics; and TV debates about “alien civilizations” became a hot topic on every street corner. The world seemed peaceful, yet the collective unconscious was being prepared for the day alien civilizations suddenly appeared.
Beneath that tranquil surface, however, undercurrents surged. The 863 Bureau, representing the will of the state and prioritizing national security, and multinational conglomerate Dimo Corporation, driven by boundless commercial profits and technological supremacy, waged a silent war over the limited clues to alien life, whether fallen wreckage, strange deep-space signals, or inexplicable anomalies. This race was about resources, technology, and talent, but above all, it was about who would shape humanity’s future.
The protagonists of our story are an investigation team from the 863 Bureau, venturing deep into the urban jungle and living on the edge of danger. Each of their “encounters” affects not only the success or failure of their mission, but also pieces together a corner of a vast puzzle, gradually uncovering the startling truth beneath the cold reality of the world of Xuan Ye.
