Yet the Dragon Kingdom displayed astonishing resilience amid the disaster. Only a quarter of its territory was destroyed, and it quickly organized a special armed force to mount a tenacious counterattack.
At first, conventional weapons could still drive back the World Beasts. But as the monsters continued to evolve, guns and artillery gradually lost their effectiveness. To protect the remaining land and its people, the Dragon Kingdom committed all its resources to building a towering wall amid the ruins: the Dawn City Wall. More than a physical barrier, it became a beacon of hope in the darkness.
Fifty years passed in turmoil. Then, on June 8, 2115, a turning point quietly arrived. Around the world, young people turning eighteen began to awaken extraordinary abilities. The Dragon Kingdom named this phenomenon “Soul Spirits,” explaining it to the public as “a transformation caused by the resonance between young people’s souls and the awakened Blue Star.” Countries ranked and trained those with Soul Spirits according to the timing and strength of their awakenings. At last, these youths bearing unknown powers gave humanity a glimmer of hope. The counterattack might finally be beginning.
