A kind and dutiful girl from a small town receives neither love nor attention from her parents. Her father is arrogant and fragile, and after his business fails, he never recovers and spends his days drinking. Her mother is immersed in card games all day long. The girl wants to understand why. She wants to save her parents and lead them out of their misery, while finding a way out for herself, too. As she grows, she finally finds the path to fulfilling her potential, and helps her parents find strength deep within themselves.
