Lanlan and I were college graduates. We fell in love, cherished each other, and eventually got married and started a family. We were both top students in college, and luck was on our side, so we each found a job. I worked at a bank, and she was a teacher. We arrived in the city with nothing and began working hard to build a life. All kinds of urban stories unfolded around us, along with the helplessness and hardships of our lives.
We felt the sting of seeing food prices so high that we couldn’t bring ourselves to eat. We felt awkward when housing prices soared and we couldn’t afford the loan payments, so we were afraid to buy a home. We felt helpless as mass layoffs began and we found ourselves growing anxious. We watched others travel abroad while we had to work ourselves to the bone just to make ends meet. We were a happy young couple, and we had our share of joy, too, because we were lucky enough to have good jobs.
We faced hard times as well. My branch laid me off, and I was terrified of being unemployed. She was a teacher, but with no students at her school, she suffered the pain of losing her job. Still, we each have our own stories to tell you. Thankfully, the way we plan our lives can offer you some inspiration. Do you want to live happily in the city? Then listen and see how we made our way!
We don’t spend money we don’t need to spend. We save every penny we earn. We invest in stocks, too, but we’re not greedy: we take our profits while we’re ahead and enjoy the gains! We even bought gold when it was still cheap. Once it got expensive, nobody was selling.
We’re young people born in the 2000s. We’re here, and the future is still ahead of us. This is our world! We’re sharing our story with you. Will you keep listening? Give us a little encouragement! We’d love to hear from you. Could you send me a little flower? Let’s see if I can get one!
