In a distant world lies a place called the Eternal Domain, where time is almost motionless. Life remains forever suspended, and no one grows old or dies. But this brings a new problem: newborn babies cannot grow up. They can only mature by being transported to places where time flows. Adults cannot leave the Eternal Domain, which means babies are often in mortal danger and need powerful guardians. So the powers of the Eternal Domain were sealed into cards and entrusted to the Divine Clan for selection, giving rise to the Twelve Zodiac Trials. Those who survive them are eligible to join the Divine Clan and undergo a final trial. Those who pass become guardians and are branded with a spiritual mark, serving the people of the Eternal Domain for all eternity. Zheng Lin eventually enters the Eternal Domain, where he withstands one world purge after another.
