Chen Luo and the others decide to transmigrate across Ailao Mountain, known as a forbidden zone for human life and said to be the gateway to the demon realm. Along the way, they encounter Hani wild men, but after staying calm and showing that they mean no harm, they continue onward. They face strange creatures and mysterious forces at every turn, then discover secrets about Ailao Mountain and the awakening of a dark power inside an ancient temple. Even after they escape the temple, the horrors continue: the ground shakes, they encounter swamp traps and bat attacks, and when they take shelter in a cave, they face an unknown monster, forcing them to prepare for a fight to the death.
