Wang Huaqin was born in 1914 in a wealthy family in Zhaohua, Sichuan. After studying in Japan, she returned to China and accidentally joined the military. Although she was a military agent, she had good intentions. In 1940, she risked her life to deliver a message to her friend Cornell, helping him escape capture by the Kuomintang. She was sentenced to death in 1951 because of her status as a secret agent. The sentence was later commuted to hard labor because of Cornell's plea. She died of illness in 1985. Her life is full of legend.
