The protagonist, Li Ming, is an investigative reporter who specializes in researching and exposing mysterious events and supernatural legends that have circulated in rural areas for years. One day, he receives an anonymous letter claiming that villages across China conceal terrifying truths that have never been uncovered.
The letter says that in recent years, several villages have experienced similar supernatural phenomena. At night, each village falls into a strange silence, yet some invisible force seems to lurk within it, claiming the lives of the villagers. Li Ming decides to investigate the villages firsthand.
