Calamity Like Smoke

Is there someone like that in your heart, too? Xu Yan thinks maybe there is.

It was an ordinary day in senior year. Xu Yan was lying on her desk, gazing out the window, when her noisy deskmate, Long Xiaofen, grabbed her hand and hurried her into the hallway. Excitedly, she said, "Xu Yan, that boy is so handsome! I heard he's a transfer student from Class 408 in the second year." Xu Yan followed her gaze and froze for a moment. The new junior seemed so much like the person from her few memories of that time. She later learned that the transfer student was named Song Haojie, and that he was the younger half-brother of the person she had loved back then.

From that moment on, Xu Yan found herself paying a little more attention to the new junior.

As they spent time together, the two eventually got together. But Song Haojie's mother's opposition, along with upheaval in Xu Yan's family, made it impossible for her to continue the relationship. In the end, she broke up with him, saying she had only treated him as a substitute.

They met again after he started college. He saw her in a sorry state after finishing her part-time job and offered to walk her back to school, but she refused.

A lot happened after that, but Song Haojie never gave up. He kept waiting for Xu Yan, waiting for her to learn how to love him.

"If you're willing to wait, a lot of things will come to you."

At last, Song Haojie finally got Xu Yan back, the senior he'd loved for so many years.
