Nearly fifty years old, Zhuang Mengdie watches helplessly as his twin sons are killed in battle at the border, their blood staining the ground. Grief overwhelms him, and in a fit of anguish, he suffers a brain hemorrhage.
Paralyzed in his hospital bed, Zhuang Mengdie can only remain conscious. In the midst of this endless pain and despair, a chilling scene unfolds: his once-gentle, beautiful wife, who had been as lovely as a campus belle, is now fooling around with his closest friend.
His friend stands beside the bed, sneering. “Mengdie, do you know your wife is nothing but my maid? Your sons aren’t really yours and hers, either. And I was the one who killed your mother. Even your father passed away yesterday. Hmph, we’re best friends, after all. Whenever there’s something ‘good’ to share, you’re the first person I think of!”
His wife adds in a coquettish voice, “Master, why haven’t you let him die yet? I’ve served him for so many years, and I’ve been longing for him to die. Just let him die, please?” The voice that was once so gentle now sends a bone-deep chill through Zhuang Mengdie.
His friend laughs like a madman. “Die? Let him die that easily? Mengdie, did you know Blue Star will be destroyed in twenty years? The authorities have discovered a perfect world. We’re the best of friends, so how could I stand by and watch you die? I’m going to make you Blue Star’s seed and send you to invade that perfect world!”
As the machine beeps, the consciousness codenamed “Mengdie” successfully invades the perfect world.
But is this place really perfect? And what path will Zhuang Mengdie take?
