Chapter One: The Wandering Playboy of the Martial World
It was an early autumn night, touched by a slight chill. The bright moon hung high in a cloudless sky.
On the flat stretch of grass before the Twin Consorts' Tomb at Beiqiu, a young man in purple lay on his side, resting his head on one arm as he gazed at the moon.
He looked to be about twenty years old.
In the moonlight, his handsome face was clear to see, though his complexion was frighteningly pale.
Beside him, along with a puddle of vomit, lay three objects in a neat row: a black lacquered wooden case, a red silk handkerchief, and a long sword of remarkably ancient design!
The black lacquered case was about seven inches long, five inches wide, and an inch and a half high. It looked exquisite and charming.
The long sword beside it was planted point-first in the ground. Its entire length was a deep blue, and the moonlight glimmered across it. There was no doubt it was a fine blade, sharp enough to cut through anything.
