The story of the novel "Muhuguan" is set in Muhuguan Town, Shangzhou District, Shangluo City, Shaanxi Province. It is based on the national political and economic reform and urban and rural development changes. It was written from 1975 to 1992 and is divided into four chapters: Chapter One (Alive), starting from the two main characters graduating from elementary school in the winter of 1975 and entering the society, describing the growth trajectories of the two people in the difficult years. Through the details of the people in the mountains of Qinling Mountains building farmland infrastructure, changing rivers and building roads, the living customs and interesting humanities in the deep Qinling Mountains are shown.
Chapter 2 (Change): In 1979, the national policy changed, the landlord element was abolished, and land was contracted to each household. The society has undergone earth-shaking changes. In this context, Qinling people left the mountains to develop in the city, and rural people entered the city to work. All kinds of hardships came one after another.
Chapter 3 (Improvement): The migration of migrant workers into the city brings vitality to the city and promotes urban development. The city provides a market and platform for Qinling people.
Chapter 4 (Transformation): The protagonist gives back to the society, builds roads and schools in rural areas, promotes local industries in Qinling Mountains, and develops rural economic construction.
