Black Myth: To Hell With the Chosen One

On the day Wu Ye was born, the sky blazed with rosy light, then thunder and lightning crashed as tens of thousands of apes gathered around.

A demon priest claimed I was born of a demon and wanted to refine him into a spiritual infant. He died the very next day.

The villagers were terrified and tried to burn Wu Ye alive, but the blaze ended up destroying the village instead.

Enraged, the villagers seized Wu Ye's family and burned them to death. Then an expert arrived and said they meant no harm: Wu Ye was the reincarnation of the Great Sage, and only his family could keep him under control.

Now the whole village was terrified, and they tried every way they could think of to kill Wu Ye.

Later, an expert took Wu Ye on as a disciple, taught him his skills, and raised him. Once Wu Ye was grown, the expert locked him up with a female demon, claiming that her yin energy would suppress the Great Sage's primordial spirit.

When Wu Ye came of age, the expert took him to an ancient ruin, the Demon-Suppressing Pagoda, to capture a thousand-year-old fox demon. But the fox demon said his master intended to take over his body.

The fox demon wanted to use Wu Ye to kill the old Taoist and possess Wu Ye's body. Caught between the thousand-year-old fox demon and his master, Wu Ye had to find a way to survive.

After giving everything he had just to stay alive, a monk came knocking and told him he was the Chosen One, destined to shoulder the great task of saving the world from suffering.

Wu Ye immediately threw the monk out. Chosen One, my ass. How many times was I nearly killed growing up? Where were you then...
