The Loyal and Brave Generals of the Zhe Family

The Zhe clan moved to Fugu in the early years of the Tang dynasty’s Wude era. From then until the end of the Song, across five dynasties and more than five hundred years, its descendants were mostly skilled warriors, mounted archers who excelled in horsemanship and the bow. Generation after generation, they lived in a barren, desolate corner of northern Shaanxi, where the wind whipped up clouds of sand. Leading their people along the Yellow River and on both sides of the Great Wall, they fought back against foreign invasions, taking up the cause one after another and shedding blood to defend the feudal dynasties, earning great merit.
