This is an epic of the struggle of three generations of Hakkas? Is this a picture of Hakka customs? Are you a Hakka? The work strives to reproduce the love, hatred and resentment of the Hakkas. During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, the four major families of Xie, Yang, Ye, and Wu in Guangdong Yangmei Chong faced difficulties due to their large population, small land, and social unrest. The locals and the Hakkas fought for resources. The Hakkas sought change and learned that Zhaoxianli in Guangxi was a vast land with few people and fertile land. The four major families decided to move westward, and were accepted by the Hakka people who moved first, including Zou Dingcai. They jointly developed Zhaoxianli and opened up wasteland to grow tea, leaves, and rice. After experiencing difficulties such as struggles with bandits, government, and floods, Zhaoxianli became a prosperous town through the efforts of two generations. The novel shows Hakka customs, clan culture, funeral customs and festival scenes.
