During the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty, the eminent monk Xuanzang ventured out of seclusion to seek Buddhist justice. He accepted several apprentices in Gaochang and traveled from the Western Regions to Central Asia to present-day Afghanistan and Pakistan. He traveled to five Indias and returned with great honors.
This work is based on "The Western Regions of the Tang Dynasty", faithfully follows Xuanzang's travel route, and draws on the character settings of the four masters and apprentices in "The Western Regions of the Tang Dynasty". Based on the unknown monks who were ordained in Gaochang, the fictional disciples have been following him around. Abandoning the color of gods and demons, it comprehensively displays the history, geography, customs and customs of medieval Central Asia and South Asia from a mortal perspective. It unravels the Buddhist allusions and Buddhist stories involved in "The Western Regions of the Tang Dynasty" and narrates them. It integrates Buddhist knowledge with historical and geographical knowledge. Reading it can increase Buddhist knowledge, and at the same time gain enlightenment that overcoming difficulties is to overcome oneself.
