In August 1948, Changchun was under siege. Zhou Song, leader of the second team of the Operations Section of the Changchun Office of the Ministry of National Security, was a Communist peripheral intelligence agent lurking in the Kuomintang's military secret service system. Due to an accident two years ago, he completely lost contact with the organization. By chance, he rescued an important underground party agent who was arrested for exposure - codenamed "Cricket". Deng Kun, deputy chief of the Intelligence Section of the Changchun Office, re-engaged in the dangerous struggle against the enemy. He proved his innocence and tried his best to protect the secret peace talks between Pan Shijie and Han Qiong, the special commissioners of the 1st Corps of the Northeast Field Army, and the senior officials of the New 7th Army of the Kuomintang.
