[Political Intrigue] [Plot-Driven] [One Heroine]
“By the Mandate of Heaven, Her Majesty the Empress decrees:
Mo Chengge, son of the Southern General, is to enter the palace today and be granted a place among the imperial consorts. Once he has borne a child, he is to be put to death.
So decreed.”
A single imperial edict set Mo Chengge on a road of no return.
Chancellor: Insolent! Why aren’t you kneeling?
Mo Chengge: I’m the father of a prince!
Minister: How can a wretch like you lead troops into battle?
Mo Chengge: I’m the Southern General’s son. If you have a problem with that, take it up with my father.
Grand General: You bastard, how dare you alter my route of march?
Mo Chengge: I’m the Empress’s lover. Go talk to her about it.
Empress: The three-year term is up. Why aren’t you dead?
Mo Chengge: You never said how many children I had to have. One is a child, two are children. Why not have a few more?
Heaven: Weren’t you sworn enemies? Why are you still together?
Mo Chengge: If she won’t die, how about you die halfway? She can stay in your half of the sky, and I’ll have my own. That way, we won’t be under the same sky.
It's okay. It's probably about a multi-party game, but the rhythm is not that fast and exciting. It's just that the male and female protagonists don't belong to the headwind situation. It's still watchable.
