Forensics Department Case Files: Season One

The story takes place in the glittering, decadent city of Ao, home to a world-class gambling hub and abundant mineral, oil, and gold resources. It is also home to high-tech research institutions specializing in biology and technology, many of them privately owned and enormous in scale. The Forensic Science Department in this story is a private institution headed by city officials and funded by an asset management company. It reports directly to the city government and ranks two levels above the police department. When a major criminal case occurs, the police can only assist, providing manpower and support while doing the legwork. The police are deeply unhappy with this arrangement, but they dare not underestimate the department's professional capabilities or its political and financial backing.

The Forensic Science Department examines crime scenes firsthand, collecting physical evidence such as hair, bloodstains, shell casings, fingerprints, footprints, fiber fragments, and bodies. Using the most advanced technology to analyze this evidence, they draw reasonable conclusions on the principle that “the evidence speaks for itself,” ultimately identifying the culprit.

Through a series of cases told in an interwoven narrative, with major cases running throughout and smaller cases tied to larger ones, this story reveals the dark and eerie side of modern society. It also shows how forensic science and criminal investigation work together to bring criminals to justice and clear the innocent.
