The Quiet Beauty of Chu

The book is overall quite good, with ups and downs in the plot. In the first half of the plot, I just felt that the heroine was a bit indecisive. In the middle and later stages of the plot, I felt a lot of emotion. If a modern person travels to ancient times, is assimilation really inevitable? When I saw the plot between the heroine Xuan and Rong Li, the brother and sister, and the words the heroine said in front of Yi's grave after her death, I didn't know whether it was because of assimilation, or I just felt a little sad inexplicably. But, the heroine is just an ordinary person, with flesh and blood, and I have no position to demand anything from her. Maybe it's influenced by the character's environment. As for the heroine I'm looking forward to seeing, it's different. Social environment affects characters, and social customs also constrain characters. But the characters in the book are quite realistic and come to life, breaking away from the stereotypes in the visual descriptions of the protagonists, Yue Ji, King Chu, Mi Zhang, Mi Yu, Yi, Juan, and Jing. This is also a highlight of the book.

A very good novel about the Spring and Autumn Dynasties. The heroine and her mother won a fight with other princesses and concubines, and then their relationship with her boyfriend, Prince Yu, broke down and they fell out. After sneaking away to the Jin Kingdom and encountering danger, the male protagonist expressed their love for each other, and was finally sent out by his eldest brother to marry the old king who was married to another country. On the wedding night, the heroine secretly changed the bride and groom. In the end, the old king died and escaped, and finally returned to the country to help her eldest brother with ideas and develop business...

The character of the heroine is well described. She is strong when she should be strong and not tough when she should be weak. I like it. I recommend it to old bookworms!
