Synopsis

[Sisters reborn and switching marriages + noble ladies battling a transmigrator + an elegant, old-fashioned palace life] In her previous life, Shen Qinghua married the good-for-nothing young master of a duke's household. After their marriage, her husband rose rapidly through the ranks and came to wield power across the court, while she became a noblewoman honored with titles and wealth. Her stepsister married the tyrant Rong Che and became empress. But Rong Che never touched her, instead spending every night with the deposed empress in the Cold Palace. Unable to bear it, her stepsister killed the former empress, only for Rong Che to have her mutilated into a human swine, a fate so horrific it shocked the world. Reborn into a new life, her stepsister seduced the good-for-nothing young master and tossed the position of empress to her. Her stepsister gloated, but Shen Qinghua was secretly delighted. Shen Qinghua took things in stride. A wise woman doesn't fall in love; she only wanted to be an empress who could enjoy her honored status in peace. As for the exhausting duty of sharing the emperor's bed, she would be more than happy to let someone else handle it. But on their wedding night, the tyrant gazed at the beauty with her flawless skin and perfect figure, then kept her in his arms until dawn. What happened to the promise that she would be left alone? After their marriage, Shen Qinghua had the Empress Dowager's support and her merchant uncle's money. The emperor also held and kissed her every day. She had wealth, power, and affection in abundance, and was honored throughout the realm. The deposed empress was consumed with jealousy. She allied with foreign enemies and abducted Rong Che, intending to keep him as her captive lover. Shen Qinghua rescued him, and only then did he realize that his childhood sweetheart had long been dead. He had been thoroughly deceived by a transmigrator. Her stepsister endured endless hardship in the duke's household, all the while waiting for Shen Qinghua to be killed and for Rong Che to lose his throne. But what came instead was Prince Yu's failed rebellion, which implicated the duke's household and doomed the entire clan. Her stepsister was once again sentenced to the cruel punishment of being skinned alive and dismembered. Even as she died, she couldn't understand why, after being reborn and switching lives, she had still ended up with such a tragic fate.
