"Do you like Zhao Jiu?"
The boy asked in a calm voice, as casually as if he were asking what they were having for lunch.
Chen Xusheng looked around, stunned and nervous.
Thankfully, everyone was eager to eat. Apart from two classmates who were asleep, they were the only ones awake in the classroom.
"Holy crap, even someone as clueless as you can tell?"
"Zhao Jiu won't date you in high school. She looks like she's really focused on her studies."
Chen Xusheng shrugged. He didn't mind. All he wanted was to stay by her side.
"I know. I'm not forcing her to date me. Something like that is better left until after the college entrance exams."
He thought that was the end of the conversation, but Xiao Xi pushed up his glasses and calmly dropped another bombshell.
"Right. If you change your mind, you won't have to take responsibility."
The boy's eyes widened in shock. He nudged Xiao Xi's head, and only after confirming there was no water inside did he reply.
"Hey, what are you thinking with that brain of yours? Do I look like the kind of guy who can't stay faithful?"
"Experts say that a teenage crush can easily last only three months."
"I've liked her for a lot longer than that."
"Qin Mu, you're studying traditional Chinese medicine. Are you planning to open a clinic or work at a hospital?"
"Work at a hospital."
"Great. If I ever kick the bucket, I'll come die at your hospital."
The boy carrying the fruit twitched his brows. He had a strange feeling that this guy had just jinxed himself.
So when a man with features somewhat like his own was wheeled in, Qin Mu was startled at first, then composed himself, his expression tinged with bitterness.
When he died, he hadn't even become a doctor yet.
