A Banquet on a Clear Night

When news breaks that the head of the Lianshan family in Shangjing is to marry into the Ruan family of Jiangdong, the media hail it as a match made in heaven. Far away in the frigid north, the heroine is enjoying a leisurely vacation. But after returning home one day, she finds herself engaged. For the sake of her family's reputation, Ruan Yuchu tearfully agrees to move to Shangjing and marry.

“Mr. Lianshan, we’re strangers. I assume you were forced into this too. Why don’t we just leave each other in peace?” she asks tentatively.

“That’s fine. I don’t mind.”

The tall man completely eclipses her, and the cool, woody scent of him keeps drifting into her nose, making her heart flutter. Then he continues, “We can take our time, Miss Ruan.”
