The Little Husband of the Dachuan Family

(Dear readers, I’ll be updating steadily with three to four chapters every day. I’m not going anywhere, so feel free to follow along!)

Farming + two male leads + danmei with male mothers + kids + multiple couples

He Ge’er has a tough fate.

His birth supposedly killed his mother, and when he was twelve, his father died too. His stepmother ran off, supposedly because of him, leaving him with a six-year-old brother. No one dares get involved with him.

The villagers call him a jinx. Anyone who gets close to him is bound to have bad luck.

But Lu Dachuan doesn’t believe in that.

He’s a butcher, with more than a decade of blood on his hands. He’s not afraid of ghosts or evil spirits. There’s only one thing he’s afraid of: He Ge’er crying.

The first time they meet, someone shoves He Ge’er into the river. Soaked through, he stands trembling in the water. Everyone on the bank watches and laughs, but no one offers him a hand.

Lu Dachuan takes off his outer robe and holds it out. He doesn’t touch He Ge’er or even look at him. He only says, “Put it on.”

Only later does he learn that He Ge’er washed that robe again and again, folded it over and over, and returned it with every crease perfectly aligned.

When Lu Dachuan says he wants to marry He Ge’er, the whole village says he’s crazy. He Ge’er says he doesn’t want a bride price, only to bring his younger brother along. Lu Dachuan agrees: “Your brother is my brother, too.”

On their wedding night, the red candles burn until dawn. He Ge’er asks, “Aren’t you afraid I’ll bring you bad luck?”

Lu Dachuan pulls him into his arms and answers in a muffled voice, “Go ahead and jinx me. I’ve got a tough fate. I can take it.”

This is the story of a poor, hard-luck man and a butcher who doesn’t believe in fate, finding warmth and making a life together.

No golden finger, no great wealth or status, just a bond that takes root amid the everyday necessities of life.
