The story begins in the summer of 1977, following Chen Ping, a student at Nanye County No. 1 High School, as he struggles and strives against adversity.
Faced with his family's poverty, his classmates' mockery, and society's injustices, Chen Ping refuses to give up. With unyielding determination, and the strength and knowledge of a 21st-century special forces soldier he unexpectedly acquires, he begins a struggle to change his own fate and that of his family.
Meanwhile, Chen Ping's classmates, including the proud Liao Yi, the clever and beautiful class belle Lin Xiao, the cunning and quick-witted Su Mei, and the devoted Li Wei, each have their own backgrounds and stories, and are searching for their paths through youth.
Their friendships, rivalries, and romances intertwine, creating a vivid portrait of youth.
