Livestream Fortune-Telling: Your Partner Sure Gets Around, Huh?

[Metaphysics + episodic stories + a touch of the supernatural + divination + no romance]

Ye Qiuli, a metaphysical master who knew the heavens above and the earth below, had read widely and knew both ancient and modern history. After failing to ascend through tribulation, her soul transmigrated into the body of a has-been celebrity. Once she received the original owner’s memories, she gave a disdainful laugh. “Forget filming this script. Isn’t livestreaming to make money and earn merit much better?”

But what’s going on with this livestream? Why are all sorts of ghosts and spirits showing up?

…

Scene One: “Master, I’ve been feeling really sleepy lately. It’s like my neck isn’t mine and I can barely lift my head. Is there anything I can do?” Ye Qiuli looks at the little ghost clinging to her. “You’re not sleepy. You’ve been possessed by a little ghost. Leave it to me.”

Scene Two: The livestream connects to the Handsome Monkey King. Ye Qiuli immediately sends him an annotated complete edition of the Journey to the West. “Brother Monkey, think this over carefully. There’s no need to fetch those scriptures after all.” After reading it closely, Brother Monkey takes off his golden headband and puts it on Tang Sanzang instead. The viewers cry out, “Well, that’s turned the natural order upside down!”

Scene Three: The livestream connects to Qin Shihuang. Ye Qiuli exclaims, “Great Ancestor, you’ve already united the Six Kingdoms. Focus on your work and serve the people as an official. Stop trying to seek immortality; it’s all fake. How about I give you a longevity pill so you can live for a few more decades?”

The Great Ancestor likes the idea. “But what should I give Ye Qiuli in return?” He looks back at the dragon throne in the highest place. “How about I give this to you to sit on?”

Ye Qiuli cries, “Great Ancestor, please don’t. I don’t want to be sentenced to hard labor!”

Then one day, Ye Qiuli’s livestream connects to the King of Hell. The viewers are shocked. “Streamer, we just wanted you to be a little more down-to-earth. We didn’t mean for you to connect to the underworld!” But her delightfully twisted viewers quickly urge her to keep livestreaming, saying it’s a thrill to watch.
