In 2022, Yun Sang was a senior in college when she met Shi Zhichen, a freshman, during orientation.
Shi Zhichen said, “You’re the prettiest senior I’ve ever seen.”
“Maybe I still don’t love you. Let’s break up.” Yun Sang’s calm, distant voice sounded just as it would if she were speaking to a stranger she never wanted to know, as she ended things over the phone.
When they met again a few years later, Yun Sang stared at the now mature young man before her in surprise. “Your name is Shi Chen?”
The young man smiled gently. “Yes. My name is Shi Chen.”
“Love is about attraction, not being moved by someone.”
“I loved you from the first moment I saw you.”
When it comes to youthful love, there is one adjective that comes to mind: sweet and sour. But this story, because it is narrated in a parallel time and space based on the real world line, inevitably brings with it the complexity and cruelty of real society and family dilemmas. Therefore, the youthful love between the two protagonists in this story is sour, sweet and bitter. Bitter hearts and experiences can also bloom their own flowers of happiness. This is their true ending that I most want to see when I rewrite this story in a parallel time and space. However, it may be because it is too close to the realistic narrative, and I am worried that it may cause discomfort to some readers. I would like to apologize here, and thank the readers for being willing to stick with me until the end.
