Captain, Follow the Doctor's Orders

“I want both the championship and you.”

Ling Zhou, captain of the men’s national table tennis team, is a legend in the sport. A Super Grand Slam champion who has dominated tournaments at home and abroad, he is upright, handsome, and an idol to the whole nation.

Years of grueling competition and training, however, left him with severe knee problems. Conservative treatment failed, so he had no choice but to undergo surgery. His recovery went well, and Captain Zhou made a powerful comeback. Whenever he trained past his allotted time, the team doctor would appear right on schedule to make him rest.

“My knee doesn’t hurt,” the captain grumbled.

“Captain, please follow the doctor’s orders.”

There’s a rumor that team doctors get into the national team through connections. Shi Xia scoffs at that. Her father wanted her to use connections, but she refused. Otherwise, she’d have been just a doctor for the Beijing team. She wouldn’t have made it onto the national team, and she wouldn’t have met its famous captain.

As the national team’s doctor, and the one specifically responsible for the captain’s rehabilitation, she drew plenty of attention. When a reporter asked what the captain was like in everyday life, she answered honestly.

“He looks well-behaved, but he never listens. He also loves giving people the cold shoulder.”

The whole internet was shocked. Later, everyone learned that the captain often overdid it in training and got caught by the doctor. The doctor was helpless, and could usually only say one thing:

“Captain, please follow the doctor’s orders.”
