Appreciative Dictionary of Tang and Song Poems (New Edition) (Set of 2 Volumes)

"Appreciative Dictionary of Tang and Song Poems" is one of the major Chinese literature appreciation dictionaries of Shanghai Dictionary Publishing House. The book was first published in 1988 and the second edition was revised in 2011. In terms of selecting the titles and writing the appreciation essays, we invited many well-known domestic ci experts at the time to participate. We selected the titles, wrote the appreciation essays, and compiled appendices with the aim of both popularization and improvement, which fully reflected the fruitful results and high level of ci studies at that time. The book contains more than 1,500 lyrics by more than 300 poets from the Tang, Five Dynasties, Song, Liao and Jin Dynasties. The "Appreciative Dictionary of Tang and Song Ci" (new edition) is planned to be based on the second edition, with additions, deletions, and corrections of several errors, additions to the appendix, and a new chronology of poets. The selected lyrics include most classic works by poets from the Tang Dynasty, Five Dynasties, Song Dynasty, Liao Dynasty and Jin Dynasty, covering the entire history of poetry from the Tang, Five Dynasties, Southern and Northern Song Dynasties. The main feature is that the selection of items is precise and comprehensive. The authors of the appreciation articles include Yu Pingbo, Zhou Ruchang, Shi Zhecun, Tang Guizhang, Shen Zufen, Ye Jiaying and other famous Chinese scholars and giants in the study of classical literature. The analysis and interpretation are clear, emotional and rational, and of high quality. It is a shortcut and smooth way for readers to understand the artistic essence of Tang and Song poetry and obtain literary nourishment.
