[A sunshine girl who's well-behaved with a hint of rebellion / A cool, considerate boy who's actually a good kid + both leads are each other's only love + from school days to the altar + mutual devotion]
Wen Lingxi has always been at the top of her class, but at No. 1 High, she's merely a borderline student in the advanced class. She's quite happy with herself, though. She believes in enjoying the process of learning.
High school studies are inevitably dull and intense, so the homeroom teacher decides to seat her next to the class monitor, hoping he'll motivate her to study.
At the start of the new term, Wen Lingxi gets a top student as her desk mate. He's not only good at studying, but good-looking and responsible, too. For instance, he uses his ballpoint pen to keep her in line.
Li Chenpi taps Wen Lingxi's left arm with his ballpoint pen.
“Wen Lingxi, page 60.”
“Wen Lingxi, stop reading novels.”
Wen Lingxi has her head down on the desk, secretly reading a novel. She never expected him to police even that.
The day their teacher asked if he was willing to sit next to her, he agreed without hesitation.
He hears someone has confessed to her.
Li Chenpi immediately reminds her, “At this stage, our studies should come first.”
Wen Lingxi doesn't answer.
Li Chenpi sulks on his own.
That June, after the college entrance exams, the blazing sun pours over the earth. The boy, his face red, asks softly, “Will you go out with me?”
Much later, Wen Lingxi secretly rises onto her tiptoes and kisses his left cheek. Shyly, she says, “Chenpi, I think I really like you.”
The teenage years are like midsummer: calm, yet full of upheaval. There is growth and there are dreams, as friendship blossoms into love.
Ling from Lingxi, Chen from Chenpi. This summer, our story begins.
In a nutshell: A high school romance about a socially fearless heroine, a tsundere hero who gets jealous easily, and their group of classmates.
