[Over-the-top melodrama + wealthy-family feuds + scheming heroine + pure-hearted man turns into a vengeful ghost + mistaken identities + both leads are each other’s only love (yes, really)]
Sang Qiyue, a mysterious young woman burdened with enormous debt, is chosen by a wealthy matriarch to impersonate her long-dead daughter and fool the family patriarch, keeping the old man from learning that his granddaughter has died.
But soon afterward, a stranger contacts her: the fiancée of the family’s younger son. She wants Sang Qiyue to impersonate the daughter and seduce her younger brother, Li Yingxu, posing as the other woman in their relationship. That way, the fiancée can break things off with her infamous playboy fiancé.
With the pressure of her enormous debt weighing on her, Sang Qiyue has no choice but to agree. And so she takes on both tasks at once: impersonating the daughter and seducing her younger brother.
Once the job begins, she discovers that the wealthy family’s younger son, Li Yingxu, was once a child star who took the country by storm. He was also her childhood idol. As they spend time together, she finds him sincere and gentle, and learns there may be more to his playboy reputation than meets the eye.
As hunter and prey circle each other, they gradually find their roles reversed.
But after completing her mission and fleeing to a foreign country, she discovers she is pregnant. How will she face these feelings?
A few warnings: 1. I generally like the male lead to love the heroine more desperately, and to get a little unhinged and stalker-like later on. The heroine finds it easier to walk away, but she does love him. If you want a heroine who is completely cold and unfeeling, this isn’t for you.
2. This really is a melodramatic rich-family drama. It’s very over the top, but the young couple’s love is pure. The male lead really is disabled: he has mild hearing loss
The author's writing is very nice, why doesn't anyone read it?
