Haixi is a seventh-tier county in a coastal city. It is an underdeveloped region with a weak manufacturing sector, so many people have no choice but to seek work in big cities elsewhere. Because those cities are so far away, some can only return home once a month, putting a serious strain on family life and their children's education. To change this, the protagonist, A Long, leads ambitious young people from his hometown in transforming Haixi County's manufacturing industry, bringing countless migrant workers home to work and reunite with their families.
