At the crucial moment of overcoming her tribulation and ascending, Li Muxi, master of the demon realm, is struck by a bolt of heavenly lightning and transmigrates through time to the Republican era. Confused and helpless in the face of this sudden change, she is visited by the Heavenly Dao, which tells her that this happened because she lacks merit. In plain terms, she's been bad. To return to her original world as soon as possible, she must accumulate enough merit.
The Heavenly Dao lays out the rules: killing a Japanese invader earns two merit points, while eliminating a traitor earns one. And so Li Muxi begins a unique and arduous cultivation journey in this war-torn age. She must adapt to an era completely foreign to her, protect innocent civilians from the ravages of war, and cleverly use her powers to fight those who commit evil, all in the hope of completing her task and returning to the demon realm as soon as possible.
