Primordial Era is a science-fiction web novel about an online game.
In 2060, people crushed by the pressures of life welcome the game Primordial Era. The protagonist, Lin Yuan, is an orphan who makes a living grinding in games. When the servers open, he is accidentally swept into a race-selection vortex and infected by a virus. He awakens in a primeval forest as a special player, witnesses Pangu create the world, and receives the origin of a Chaos Demon God, transforming into the Spacetime Battle Demon Ape.
Lin Yuan and the Treasure-Hunting Mouse embark on adventures, fighting intense battles, killing enemies above their level, and earning generous rewards. Other players have their own encounters, and their fates intertwine through both conflict and cooperation. As the connection between the real world and the game grows stronger, Lin Yuan's power surges, and various factions turn their attention to the promising players in the game.
After a game update, the new content provokes varied reactions among players. In real life, Lin Yuan faces the destruction of his rented home, while Bei Mingxue is troubled by a family-arranged marriage. Shanhai Pass is beset by crisis. Lin Yuan is injured and falls unconscious while dealing with a threat from three mythical creatures, but his in-game character turns the tide. His coma draws the attention of many parties. The nation takes a keen interest in him and investigates the link between the game and reality. Nangong Chen wants to establish a guild. When Lin Yuan wakes, he is offered generous terms by the state, leaving him conflicted.
Lin Yuan continues his adventures in the game, and his alchemy achievements provoke varied reactions from players around the world. He also solves the problem of storing Daoyuan Pills and has many adventures involving them with other players. He has numerous unexpected encounters at the Yin-Yang Dao Palace, Bei Mingxue is reborn through nirvana, and Xuan Yuan Po, jealous that Lin Yuan has bonded with a Xiantian treasure, challenges him to a duel to the death.
Before the duel, Lin Yuan works to improve his strength, while players from every nation gather at the viewing platform. The leaders of the Dragon Nation discuss the matter, and battle generals come to watch. The two fight fiercely in the arena, but the battle is halted when the Wood Minor World intervenes. A temporary truce is reached, but their feud remains unresolved.
A good novel with rich content and multiple parallel lines.
