“That beast caught him again.”

“It’s fine! He’ll make his own way back later.”

“How many times has this happened?”

“Six?” He counts on his fingers. “Sev, seven times!”

The enemy camp:

“If you promise not to run away again, I won’t tie you up.”

“A promise from a man is worth its weight in gold. You have my word. I swear I won’t run, so don’t tie me up.”

“Fine!”

It takes no longer than the time it takes to fetch a bowl of porridge.

“General, bad news! The young master has run away again!”

The beast’s fingers crack as he clenches his fists, but he smiles. “Good! Good! Good! Don’t blame me for what happens next!”
