A notice from the Committee for Humanity’s Survival:
Looking back over humanity’s nineteen thousand years of history, neither the passage of time nor peaceful surroundings has brought human civilization up to a passing grade.
To prevent humanity from being wiped out and reduced to a blank slate, the Committee has decided to launch the competition “Fate: The Battle for Survival.” Its purpose is to help humanity evolve and earn the right to keep living.
[Here, death will be real. But the reward is an all-purpose wish-granting machine that can make any wish come true.]
