This work reflects the story of my newly recruited border police officers who went to the Sino-Vietnamese border police station and public security checkpoint after the self-defense counterattack against Vietnam, and launched a heroic struggle with the Vietnamese army. They were later adapted into the Chinese People's Armed Police Force, and further performed their duties and contributed their efforts to defend the motherland and promote peace.

It praises the dedication of the border guards who serve the people wholeheartedly without fear of sacrifice. The setting is the late 1970s and the early 1980s. It feels very contemporary when reading. I am a person born in the 1960s, but the love between men and women described by the author is very avant-garde. In particular, the description of Zhong Na is not infatuated but infatuated. Even a woman in the early 1980s would not be so fanatical that she would take off her clothes without knowing whether a man loves her, unless she is deliberately seducing her. The author's description of her is warm but very sensible and reasonable. However, the whole book is still worth reading.
