A Flutter of Ran's Heart

Twelve years ago, Gao Yi met Yin Ran for the first time. The boy had delicate features, fair skin, and tousled black hair. His neat white shirt gave off a faint fragrance, making him seem fresh and refined. Beneath his straight fringe, his bright eyes and lively, clever expression radiated an innocent courage, as though he could see straight into people's hearts. The girl's face was smooth and pale as white jade. Her delicate features included soft, rosy lips, a slightly upturned nose, and limpid eyes. Her brows arched like distant mountains, sweeping above her eyes. Her flowing hair fell lightly over her shoulders. Her lips were pressed together, but when she smiled, they curved beautifully, making hearts flutter. The moment he saw her, Gao Yi decided that she was exactly the kind of angel he could imagine. Twelve years later, Gao Yi might never have expected that, just as he had wished, he would truly be walking down the aisle of love with Yin Ran. He had carefully and clumsily concealed his feelings, planting a seed called hope that would one day take root and bloom. That summer, the cicadas still sang.
