Reading Photography: Guo Lixin Photography Criticism

"Reading Photography" is a record of Guo Lixin's relatively complete critical thinking on the practice and development of contemporary photography over the past fifteen years. This book is composed of three units, namely "Writing on Photography Issues", "Writing on Photographers" and "Writing on Photography Books". In addition, the author's interview with British visual culture critic John Berger is included as an appendix. The composition of these three parts corresponds to the three important basic aspects on which photography depends for its survival and development. "Reading Photography" structures the author's continuous thinking on contemporary photography practice from these three perspectives. It can be said that it accurately grasps the author's profound observation and incisive understanding of contemporary photography cultural practice and the significance of his writing work.
