Wen Jiuyan was a decisive and ruthless general of the Xia Kingdom. After her army was defeated, she was framed by traitors at court and branded a traitor herself. She had no choice but to disfigure herself and drift into the Great Qi. There, she was saved by Xiaobai, the owner of a funeral shop in Yuxi Town. The two endured a marriage scam orchestrated by the dwarf of the Liu family, then grew closer while outwitting Hei Mi of the Bu'er Tomb to save their lives.

Who could have guessed that Xia Kingdom assassins would find her, massacre the entire town, and burn Xiaobai to death?

Driven by old and new grudges, Wen Jiuyan returned to the capital to take her revenge, only to encounter Xiaobai, who had supposedly burned to death in Yuxi Town a year earlier. He now held the title of Imperial Tutor of Great Qi and went by Xiao Yi.
