The Abyss of No Return

Lin Wanqiu spent three years as a kept woman, only to be driven out of a mansion with a lawyer's letter. The property division form had one glaring entry: “None.”

Lin Zaochun thought she'd found true love, but at a restaurant she received a “dating bill” for 120,000 yuan. Her partner told her, “The game is over.”

On a stormy night, the sisters dragged their suitcases into a hotel that cost 88 yuan a night. Their entire fortune amounted to 6,000 yuan in cash.

From the Cloudtop Manor to a run-down 40-square-meter apartment, from a life of luxury to jobs as a community registration clerk and a bakery apprentice... This city had never felt like “home” to them. It was too big, big enough to swallow a person whole.

But it didn't swallow them.

This isn't a wish-fulfillment story about turning one's life around. It's a story about “staying.”
