The origin of it all: Long ago, Zhang Daoling attained the Dao and ascended, exhausting the final trace of the world’s fortune. The Heavenly Dao opposed him. On the brink of failure, he comprehended the art of One Breath Becoming the Three Pure Ones and dealt the Heavenly Dao a grievous wound. The Heavenly Dao then fell into slumber in the Valley of the Twenty-Four Solar Terms. Zhang Daoling left behind three lineages of the Dao, passing them to three disciples: the Orthodox Celestial Master Mansion on Mount Longhu, the Five Turbidities Burial Sect in the Guixu Sea, and the Escape One Sect in the Inner Landscape Grotto-Heaven. The balance among the three sects collapsed during the Jiashen Rebellion.
