Synopsis

[Comedy + System + Absurd Humor + Watch-along + Copycat Writer + Livestream + Variety Show]

Ye Chen was born into a parallel world where comedy was in short supply, and entered the National Comedy Director Competition.

His film Kung Fu took the country by storm, pioneering a new wave of absurd comedy!

After that, Ye Chen went on to make a string of absurd comedies, including Flirting Scholar, A Chinese Odyssey, King of Comedy, The Lucky Guy, Royal Tramp, Forbidden City Cop, and Fight Back to School. They became global sensations, and he couldn't stop winning awards!

Audience: “We asked you to make a comedy, so why did you make absurdist nonsense?”

Ye Chen: “Ladies and gentlemen, does absurd comedy not count as comedy?”

Host: “Director Ye, your comedies all seem to have a tragic undertone. Can you explain why?”

Ye Chen: “As everyone knows, tragedy is at the heart of comedy.”

[This book mainly focuses on livestreamed audience reactions to movie screenings. Proceed with caution if that's not your thing!]
