Shen Luying, a famously aloof beauty in the immortal realm, is reborn and decides to turn over a new leaf and cherish his disciple.
But then he discovers that his disciple is gone.
His beloved disciple Mu Yuhan, whom he raised with his own hands to be sunny and righteous, has been reborn straight into his old home in the demonic realm, starting out on hard mode.
Immortal Venerable Master: ...Is it too late for me to defect to the demonic realm?
Later, at the Immortal-Demon Assembly, everyone denounces the Demon Venerable's son.
But in full view of everyone, Shen Luying walks step by step toward the isolated figure and takes Mu Yuhan's hand amid countless staring eyes.
"Don't be afraid," he says, his voice cool yet firm. "Your master will take you home."
Mu Yuhan looks at him, his eyes reddening, and finally reveals his first genuine smile since being reborn.
"Master, when you say home," he asks softly, "do you mean the immortal realm, or... your heart?"
