The Si family is a reclusive clan with a thousand-year legacy. Obsessed with martial arts, they care nothing for power or profit and value only the martial way. Their ancient martial arts have accumulated over the centuries; even a few of their techniques would be enough to help any family flourish. For the past several hundred years, the Si family has searched everywhere for ancient martial arts manuals. They believe that in China’s five thousand years of history, countless peerless techniques must still lie beyond their reach, so they have sent people far and wide to search. Wherever there might be records of ancient martial arts, from tombs and remote forests to hidden caves and historic sites, the Si family is sure to be there.
Then, by chance, the Si family received astonishing news: deep in the Kunlun Mountains lay an ancient site, a cave dwelling where a peerless master had passed away. It contained an immortal-level cultivation manual, one said to make its bearer an immortal. The family patriarch was thrilled and immediately sent people to investigate and confirm the story, as well as search for the manual. But they returned empty-handed. Still undeterred, the patriarch continued sending people to find a way into the secret realm. Eventually, during the tenure of Si Youyou’s father as patriarch, a team found the entrance and brought back several items. Those items brought the Si family to the brink of ruin. During her escape, Si Jingmiao encountered Zhang Qiling and the Blind Man, and the story begins there. Si Jingmiao and Zhang Qiling, Si Youyou and Xie Yuhua, Big Zhang and Nuwa Yaoyao, Wu Xie and Little Ling’er: they face countless trials, part and reunite, and ultimately find their way to one another.
They go through things no ordinary person could endure, and in the end, they cannot live ordinary lives. Once it’s all over, the Young Calf Five and the five girls finally settle down to a happy, secluded life.
The journey is painful, but the ending is sweet!
