Looking Up at Dreams

Title: Looking Up. Author: Wangyue Ge Sou.

Preface: In this age of rampant materialism and cold human relationships, I can only drift with the tide. My ambitions soar to the heavens, but my fate is as fragile as paper. Though I have talent, I have no chance to put it to use, so I can only write the stories in my heart into books and dreams. The book and reality keep transmigrating into each other: I write while I live, and in my dreams I switch back and forth between the book and reality, half awake and half entranced. The protagonist's story is also, in part, my own; in my dreams, I take on the thoughts of the protagonist in the book.

Looking up is a spatial experience, as if I were standing on a vast plain and gazing at the starry sky: so beautiful, yet just beyond my reach. Looking up is also a state of human connection, as if two people were facing each other, yet gazing up at one another, loving but unable to be together. Welcome to my world.
