The Substitute Canary

[A rivalry between suitors + a universally adored protagonist]

He isn't short on money. He doesn't have parents with cancer who need saving, or bizarre relatives who leech off him, and he has no trouble with his studies.

He's just bored. He's worked in plenty of fields, and his family's motto is: You can never have too many skills.

Wan Yuan knows all sorts of things and has done all kinds of jobs, but no one has ever come up to him and said, “I'll keep you.”

It's a novelty. He's tempted.

[Content warnings]: All the love interests are chaste! (Love interest 1 has had an ex-boyfriend.) The protagonist can do everything, it's a brainless wish-fulfillment story drenched in melodrama, it makes no sense, and it's a one-to-many romance.

[All the love interests fall for the protagonist. There's no reason, and I don't know why either. I'm not very good at writing the process of falling in love. Anyway, they're just really in love with him.]

My writing is at an elementary-school level, so please don't roast me ( p′︵‵.). A groveling romance, though I doubt he'll win him back. I'm not sure if there's a main love interest; I scrapped the original outline...

This is self-indulgent comfort food!!! What keeps this obscure author writing is that I love this kind of story :)
